Program Manager, Part-Time

 

The Powerhouse Transition Center is a program for homeless and at-risk individuals with a desire to change their circumstances.  The Learning Center provides academic and computer training to help prepare the Transition Center residents for success when they exit the program.

 

We are looking for an individual with the passion for teaching, the vision to create a Learning Center, and the administrative skills to oversee the program.

 

The Learning Center Program Manager will be responsible for developing the training plan, hiring and managing volunteers, and overseeing the program designed to provide academic training to Powerhouse Transition Center residents.  

Responsibilities

Develop Learning Center Program

·        Create a program plan for the Learning Center.

·        Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers in the Learning Center.

·        Work with each student who enters the program

o       Assessments to test grade level

o       Interview to set learning/career goals

o       Assess learning style and disabilities

o       Create individualized learning prescription based on student assessments

o       Provide instruction and materials best suited to the students' needs

·        Assist students who need a GED through appropriate preparation, the administering of practice tests, and the scheduling of exams

·        Provide instruction for special-needs students who test below program goals including reading literacy.

·        Assist post high-grads to "plug" learning gaps in Writing, Math, and English skills and Computer Literacy.

·        Hold residents accountable for appropriate behavior

·        Participate in Transition Center staff meetings

Maintain Learning Center

·        Oversee classroom use and materials.

·        Schedule classes as needed for current residents

·        Generate/order materials as needed for class use

·        Liaison between classroom and staff.

 

Qualifications

·        Must have a personal and consistent relationship with Jesus Christ and active in a local Christian church.

·        Must have compatible theology on major issues of Powerhouse Ministries’ Statement of Faith.

·        Must be committed to serving God and the body of Christ.

·        Must have a teachable spirit and be committed to team participation.

·        Must be an initiator who can work under deadlines.  

·        Must be willing to work with all personality types, both under pressure and in difficult situations.

·        Familiarity with available materials and ability to instruct students.

·        Bachelor’s degree and prior teaching experience preferred.

·        Computer expertise necessary.

Salary

·        $12-15/hour, DOE
